History

Dr. Md. Feroz Kabir, PhD, applied to start this program under the Faculty of Health Science in 2018. Then the proposal was passed in the Faculty meeting and then the Academic Council, and then finally it was approved by the Regent Board of JUST in the same year. Finally, the University Grants Commission approved this department on 20th November 2018 for starting student admission in the same year.

In the 2018-2019 session, the Department of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation (PTR) at Jashore University of Science & Technology (JUST) started the academic activities of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation (BPTR) program with the approval of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.

So, Associate Professor Dr. Md. Feroz Kabir, PhD, was the pioneer in establishing this department. The Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA), the national physiotherapy professional association, has played a great role in establishing this department. The renowned professor at the University of Melbourne, Australia, Prof. Dr. Gillian Weeb, played a vital role in curriculum development. Besides this, Dr. Velerie-A-Taylor (CRP), Prof. Dr. Md. Sohrab Hossain, Prof. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Prof. Dr. Md. Obaidul Haque, Dr. Sonjit Kumar Chakravorty, and others have played a great role.
